Story:
The painting depicts the artist’s Ancestors of Dujugun and tells their Dreamings of Water. Their stories are represented by the artists Grandmothers Songline and imagery of Garrawa, Borroloola of the Nygabaya or Spirit People Dreaming. There is the Big Water Dreaming that is depicted by the green and symbolises growth. Then the blue side is of Calm Water Dreaming symbolising healing. In this painting the artist weaves both mother and father ancestral lines and flows with her own visual interpretation to tell this story of her culture and connection. There are cream dots that represent my Ancestor’s Stone Dreaming from Robinson River in the Northern Territory. The stones are used by Aboriginal people for healing and represent strength, spirituality and resilience.
